Missouri AHEAD Legislative Committee Our Purpose The Legislative Committee's function is to address important legislative issues identified by MOAHEAD members which impact support services for students with disabilities. Current Projects Work with Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to write and propose state legislation to set aside funding for colleges to aid in the support of the rising cost of auxiliary aids and services. Students with Disabilities (Draft) Address letters to the national organizations, DLD and LDA informing them of our concerns regarding the changes in IDEA that allow informal assessments instead of more formal assessments for students going on to post-secondary education. Missouri AHEAD Program Committee Our Purpose The Program Committee designs informational workshops and training sessions as needed. MO-AHEAD plans for at least one session each fall and sometimes holds a workshop during the summer. The Program Committee also assists the Conference Chair for the Great Plains Conference held in the spring in Linwood, Kansas. The Transition Training Committee was established to develop a one day workshop for secondary instructors, counselors or other appropriate secondary personnel regarding transition needs of students with disabilities. Missouri College Guidebook Committee Our Purpose The Missouri College Guidebook provides a "roadmap" for students, teachers, and parents as they plan for the transition from high school to post-secondary educational institutions. It is located at www.moahead.org/guidebook. The committee surveys participating colleges every two years to provide current profiles and updates information concerning transition.
Liaison to National AHEAD/MO-AHEAD Website Purpose The liaison coordinates the MO-AHEAD affiliate chapter activities with National AHEAD and serves as a communication link between National AHEAD and MO-AHEAD. Another responsibility is to maintain current information on the MO-AHEAD website. Adam
